More than one in nine inpatients had psychiatric comorbidity with a significant effect on admission outcomes. When a patient who is known to our onologists is admitted, we do get their specialist involved. When a patient with complex urological problems is admitted to medicine we will let their urologist know. When a patient has mental health problems we too often ignore this part of their health. We need to break down barriers in the organisation of health care but also in our own thinking.
