The emotional impact of chronic comorbidities

Advanced natural language processing (NLP) techniques analyzed 389 narratives of pediatric patients with multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs) from social media. 93.8 % of narratives showed negative sentiments; “Sad” (60.9 %) and “Fear” (15.4 %) were the most prevalent emotions. Strong links were identified between comorbidities and specific emotional responses. COVID-19 significantly worsened emotional experiences, increasing sadness and fear.
